As this year comes to a close...

Image
or should I say: as this year comes to a beginning? There are so many things to say but I feel you would get bored of hearing it! I guess I should keep it simple by telling you that God is so good. We don't deserve his grace, yet we depend on it. We don't deserve his love, yet we bask in it. So much has changed for me and those around me this year. Starting high school, struggling through high school, making great friends, balancing a busy work schedule, and a new baby sister on the way are only a small part. As this year comes to a beginning I want to change the way I live my life-  specifically my lifeSTYLE. I want 2024 to not be marked in my brain as simply "Sophomore year" I want it to be marked as the year I fixed things. Because when my physical life is unhealthy that creeps into my spiritual life which effects so much more.      Secondly, I want to be investing more in those around me. (1 Thessalonians 5:11) So often we take those we are closest to for gran

Creating for yourself a Healthy Lifestyle: Eating

A big part of staying healthy is just watching what you eat. Not necessarily going on a diet but just making sure your not eating total garbage. Here are a few of my go-to's Breakfast: Avocado Toast: (Not only for breakfast ;)) I actually just ate this for dinner) Slice or mash avocado Toast some bread Cook two eggs- don't break the yokes smear avocado on bread and sprinkle paprika on top. Add your eggs and crack salt and pepper over them  Break yokes and enjoy ;)))) Breakfast Sandwich      Scrambled eggs on toasted bread with avocado and bell peppers (or tomato for those of you who like it) Oatmeal Bowl Boil old fashion oats and add to a bowl, stir in milk Top with any berry, banana, flax seed, pecans, and a drizzle of peanut butter Smoothies/Smoothie Bowls See previous posts Yogurt Parfait     Greek yogurt with honey (if desired) berries, and granola or nuts Banana Peanut butter Toast  Toast with peanut butter, honey, banana and chia seeds Banana Pancakes Add two eggs t

Creating for yourself a Healthy Lifestyle: Nighttime

Here we are, my nighttime routine. Again, the goal is not for perfection just for a healthier, happier life. Discipline is the cornerstone of freedom.      It's important for me to do many of these  things the night before as I may not have time when I wake up.  My nighttime routine starts after dinner by showering every night. I make sure to always wash my face during this process.  While I'm in the bathroom I do whatever nighttime skincare I need to do and clean my retainer. Hop into my pjs and start to wind down I always try to nourish my mind before bed by reading, or journalling, and even doing a little school, then I set out my outfit for the next morning and get my coffee all set up so that when my alarm goes off I am motivated to get out of bed. I also place a glass of water by my bed Depending on how active I was that day I might do a quick workout.  Then I try to go to bed by 9:30 in order to make waking up easier. If I'm struggling to fall asleep I may also l

Creating for yourself a Healthy Lifestyle: Morning

Nobody knows better than me the struggle of wanting that healthy, balanced life but lacking the discipline to do so. The truth is, it takes a lot of sacrifice to get there and to  accomplish that healthy, happy life.      I've heard it says that the brain takes 24 days of repetition in order to accomplish a habit so that has been my goal. 24 days. I have failed so many times and have had to start over so many times but I am now on day 16 without failing to accomplish my daytime routine, fingers crossed I can make it to the end.     The goal is not perfection, the goal is not to loose weight, the goal is not to be more athletic. The goal is simply to be healthier and  happier. Discipline leads to freedom. ☀️ Morning Routine  ☀️ It all starts with waking up in the right way, at a good time. To set myself up for success I adopted the method of a habit loop, where basically we have a cue, a routine, and a reward. Then you follow this cycle over and over until you form that habit.

I'm Happy 🍂

Guys I'm happy. I was just looking through photos from last fall and remembering all sorts of things I had totally forgot happened and- ahhh I'm just so excited to see where life takes me next. I'm simply: happy. I'm happy that fall's here, I'm happy that I got Boba with Kiana today, I'm happy that tomorrow's halloween and I get to wear my amazing purple flair pants, I'm happy that on November 3rd Niall Horan's releasing an encore to "The Show" and my aunt and uncle are releasing "Miss You." I'm happy that I have music in my earphones and rain pattering on my roof. And then I'm happy that I'm curled up in my pajama's on my beanbag with a cup of coffee sitting on the floor next to me and a notebook of data I was supposed to be converting to a PowerPoint before I got distracted, and I can hear crickets outside because that's how late it is, and I have "On a Night Like Tonight" blasting and ev
